The 3rd Community
Leader Training
Course
This
course has been
provided by
Korea Community
Organization
Information
Net-work(CONET)
in order to
empower people
who have a role
as a leader
in local community
since 1998.
This 3rd course
which has been
carrying out
since March
20, 2001 is
aimed at reflecting
their own lives,
developing the
democratic leadership
in the Community,
building up
the vision of
their own community.
This
is consist of
12 sessions
for 6 month,
1 session per
every two week.
9 community
leaders who
came from and
recommended
by local communities
in urban poor
areas is participating
in this course,
as trainees.
They are trained
in the three
program category
; self-help
program, leadership
and partnership
program, and
vision program.
The
first, the self-help
program deals
with the attitudes,
values, and
roles of community
leader, feed-back
skill, management
of conflict,
desirable habits
in life.
The
second, the
leadership program
deals with community
organizing Methodology,
social investigation,
effective communication
skill, dialogue
skills, building
leadership team,
promoting the
community groups,
solidarity and
network, workshop
skill, cooperative
union, education
and training
for people,
programming
skill, etc.
The
third, the vision
program deals
with urban poor
movement, housing
right movement,
the history
of CO movement
in Korea and
Asia, politics
in terms of
CO, etc.
Aside
from 12 session
times, they
are given the
homework and
field work between
each session
and they must
do them. They
say it is hard
traing for them,
but it is expected
they will complete
of this course
with pleasure,
at the coming
September 4.
2.
The 5th Elementary
Training Course
for community
organizer
This
course which
has been since
1996 is one
of the Community
organizing Trainging
Course arranged
by CONET.
Particularly
Korea Center
for city and
Environment
Research(KOCER),
which has been
working for
urban poor people
and Community
Organizing,
joins in the
course.
This
course is given
to community
organizers whose
experiences
in terms of
their working
time in local
communities
is around 1
year. Through
this course,
trainees come
to be trained
concerning about
what is Community
Organizing,
what attitudes,
roles, and orgnizing
skills is needed
to community
organizer. This
course which
is 3 month training
program, 1 session
per each week,
started at April
26 and will
be completed
of at July 12.
11 trainees
who working
at the urban
poor area for
community organizing
is participating
in this course.

Arranging the
Trainer Training
Course
Meanwhile,
CONET has been
carrying out
the 6month training
program for
community leaders
and organizers.
Each course
has a principle
that a number
of trainees
should be around
10.
But
actually the
Need of participation
in training
course is increasing,
which means
more training
program should
arranged. So,
CONET decided
to established
the Trainer
Training Course
to develop trainers
to respond to
the need of
training.
Now
CONET are organizing
several time
workshop for
it. Its plan
will be submitted
in the 30th
anniversary
of community
organization
movement of
Korea.
