1. Asian Civil Society Forum
   ( 9-13 December 2002 Bangkok, Thailand)

The theme of the forum is: UN/NGO Partnership for Democratic Governance; Building Capacities and Networks for Human Rights and Sustainable Development.

The overall goal of the Forum is to raise awareness of the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals and to assess the contribution of Asian NGOs to the achievement of the targets set therein.

2. Social Forum Asian
    (January 2 to 7, 2003)

This is being organized by a committee based in India, whose mission is to mobilize social movements and organizations in the other countries of the region. It is to take place in Hyderabad (south central India) from January 2 to 7, 2003.

The major themes that will orient the meeting are:
- Globalization, development and trade;
- Globalization, nation, democracy and exclusions;
- Peace and Disarmament;
- A new view of an other world;
- Social infrastructure.

The programme planned, in addition to conferences, seminars and workshops, will leave considerable room for the various forms of cultural expression, which are considered tools essential to the work of social mobilization and awareness-building.
In addition to the Social Forum, the Indians are also planning a series of interrelated activities in some 400 Indian districts in the course of the year.
